Floating Colors

Yesterday was very enjoyable for me. I didn't do a single chore but spent the day working in my day journal from my class with Xtina at Frank Bette Center for Art(FBCA) http://www.frankbettecenter.org/solano_workshop.htm, reading the Sunday paper and watching TV shows that I had recorded (love that DVR!). I need to connect my PC with my scanner so that I can scan the pages that I've created so far. Or take photos, duh!

At the first class we glued 2-3 pages together for a sturdy substrate through our whole journal. Last Sunday, we started painting them by using a credit card to scrape drops of paint across the page. It's fun. I dreamed about floating colors Sunday night and couldn't wait to paint yesterday. As soon as I was up, I made a mess using the credit card technique with lots of wonderful colors. Then I tried dry brushing favorite colors together and using a makeup sponge to blend ink from pigment pads (not as successful). I think it will be better to use the ink pads when I stencil. It will be easier to handle and less messy than paint. I enjoy some colors more than others but I really love them all. I couldn't just pick a couple to work with. Each color has it's own seductiveness - ochre, sea green, turquoise, blue-violet, fuschia, cherry red. Oooo.
